Cookie Policy

Last updated 25 August 2026 Applies to magpietuition.uk

1What a cookie is

A cookie is a small file a website asks your browser to store, usually so it can recognise you on a later visit. Similar technologies — local storage, tracking pixels, fingerprinting scripts — do much the same job. UK law (the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations, alongside UK GDPR) says that anything not strictly necessary to deliver what you asked for needs your consent first.

2What we set: nothing

We set no cookies of our own. We do not use Google Analytics or any other analytics product. We run no advertising and no remarketing. We do not use local storage or session storage. We do not fingerprint your device.

We cannot tell who you are when you browse this site, and we do not try to.

3Third-party content that loads on every visit

WhatProviderCookies?What it means for you
Web fontsGoogle FontsNo Your browser fetches our two typefaces from Google's servers. Google does not set a cookie for this, but it does receive your IP address as part of the request, which is how any web request works. Google states that it does not use these requests to profile people.
Website deliveryCloudflareNo Cloudflare serves this site and filters malicious traffic. On our configuration it sets no cookie. It processes your IP address to do its job, which is strictly necessary for the site to work at all.

4The booking calendar — the one exception

We include it because it is the tool that delivers the thing you came to the page for — booking a lesson. We do not receive any tracking data from it, and Microsoft's use of those cookies is governed by the Microsoft Privacy Statement.

[Decision pending: making the calendar load only after you click "Show booking times" would mean no third-party cookie is set unless you actively ask for it. Recommended — it removes any consent question entirely. See the Phase 0 notes.]

If you would rather avoid it altogether, you can book by emailing hello@magpietuition.uk or messaging us on WhatsApp instead.

5What we deliberately removed

Our reviews section previously loaded a script from Trustpilot on every page view, even though the live review widget was switched off and nothing was displayed. It was doing nothing except contacting a third party on your behalf, so we removed it.

If we bring the live Trustpilot widget back, this policy will be updated first, and the widget will only load with your consent.

6Controlling cookies yourself

Because we set none, there is nothing here for you to turn off. If you want to manage cookies generally, every major browser lets you block or delete them — look under Settings, then Privacy. Blocking cookies will not stop this site working, though it may stop the embedded booking calendar from functioning.

7The member portal

We are building a secure area where students, parents and tutors will sign in to reach lesson materials. When it launches it will set a strictly necessary cookie to keep you signed in. That kind of cookie does not require consent, because without it the sign-in could not work. It will contain no tracking data and will not be shared with anyone. This policy will be updated before that area opens.
